
Analysis of the m-learning practices in Telefónica regarding its different stakeholders: Employees and Families, Customers and Society
ABSTRACT: as an integrated operator, Telefónica promotes the broadband services and ICT applications in order to contribute to the Information and Knowledge Society impulse in the citizenship of all the countries in which it operates. Mobile learning represents a great leverage for this objective and Telefónica implements m-learning solutions and applications for these three groups:
Employees and Families, Providers: the most relevant and state of the art Mobile Learning projects will be presented, focusing on their innovation aspects, technological and pedagogical challenges. It will include the analysis of success projects and lesson learned from failures.
Customers: a variety of examples of mobile learning initiatives launched to
the different segments: Education, Government, Families, Corporations, SMEs
and Sohos will be presented, analyzing their current impact and the
realistic expectations of the use of these types of applications and
services in the future.
The showcases will include the different types of technologies or devices
used, and the users’ perception in their usability.
Society: Telefónica, in its desire to reduce the digital divide, is promoting various mobile learning projects around Education, Internet security, citizenship. Experiences such as "train the Teachers in the use Didactic ICT" using mobile learning technology will be described. The use of mobile phone for learning purposes in Colombia is another showcase that will be presented.
The presentation will give a perspective overview of Telefónica positioning around Mobile Learning in the different scopes in which it operates, analyzing the reality compared to the hype in each case, and the expectations for the near future.
